North Shore Animal League America is the largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization in the world. We are a non-profit organization that has an annual budget of approximately 33 million dollars. Since 1944, The Animal League’s mission has been saving the lives of pets through adoption, rescue and advocacy initiatives. Every year, the Animal League reaches across the country to rescue, nurture and adopt approximately 20,000 pets into happy and loving homes. Over the years, the Animal League has placed close to 1 million puppies, kittens, cats and dogs into carefully screened homes.


ADOPTION CENTER

Position: Quality Control Driver
Hours: Part-Time (Weekends Only)
Requirements:

In order to qualify for this position you must be available to work both weekend days, have excellent written and verbal communication skills and basic computer skills. A High School Diploma and a Valid Drivers License are required. Bi-lingual a plus.

Responsibilities:

We are currently seeking for a Part-Time Quality Control Driver. As a Quality Control Driver you will ensure (through home visits) that all animals adopted from the Animal League are in quality homes; as well as, insuring that adopters are adhering to their adoption contract.


Position: Pet Behavior Trainer
Hours: Full-Time
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have at least six months previous experience working hands-on with canines in a shelter environment, veterinary facility or graduated from a dog training school.

Responsibilities:

We are currently seeking an experienced Dog Trainer. Duties include preparing animals for adoption, which may involve animals with various behavior issues.


Position: Kennel Manager
Hours: Full-Time
Requirements:

This position requires a high-energy leader to promote adoptions and to direct, motivate and train staff to achieve 20,000+ adoptions/year. Supervisory experience, excellent customer service skills and ability to multi-task as well as previous hands-on animal care experience are a must; a BA or BS degree is a plus.

Responsibilities:

We currently have an opening for a professional, hands-on Kennel Manager. In this position you will be managing Adoption Center staff and overseeing the daily operations of our shelter. We are looking for a self-starter with a strong sense of responsibility to join our team.


Position: Kennel Associate
Hours: Part-Time
Requirements:

At least 6 months of customer service and previous experience working with animals strongly preferred, however we are willing to training the right people. This is an entry level position with room for growth with in the company.

Responsibilities:

We are currently looking for enthusiastic Full Time and Part Time Kennel Associates. As a Kennel Associate you will ensure the general heath and wellness of the animals as you assist them in finding quality homes. Responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting the public during the adoption process, feeding the animals, cleaning and disinfecting animal cages.


Position: Groomer
Hours: Full-Time
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess previous grooming experience, as well as customer service skills. This position requires interaction with adopters. Grooming Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities:

We are currently seeking an experienced Full-Time Groomer to join our team. As a groomer you would be responsible for bathing, cutting hair, dematting, clipping nails and administering special dips as directed by a Veterinarian to the Animal League’s cats and dogs as well as limited owned animals.


Position: Driver – Offsite
Hours: Full-Time (Thursday-Sunday, 10 Hour Shifts)
Requirements:

  • Must maintain a clean driving record
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Supervisory experience
  • Must be able to work 10 hour shifts or longer; position is 4 day work week

Responsibilities:

We are seeking someone to transport NSALA staff and animals in a safe and timely manner to off-site locations and transport trips. Supervise staff and oversee entire adoption process and event at the location. Maintain mobile adoption units (i.e. clean, stock with supplies etc.). Select and load animals for the offsite event. Gather medical records and medications for selected offsite animals. Screen potential adopters for adoption approval, fill out adoption paperwork, perform computer and reference checks and enter shelter care insurance. Process approved applications. Must be available, if selected to go on cross country or interstate events or rescue missions (examples are the Bayer event in Florida, Tour for Life (TFL) or rescue missions). Various other duties as assigned.


Position: Adoption Services Associate
Hours: Part-Time overnight
Requirements:

Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, customer relation skills, and the ability to deal with the public in sometimes difficult situations.

Responsibilities:

We are seeking a mature & dependable animal lover with excellent customer service and communication skills to perform general security duties. Duties include put are no limited to informing potential adopters that they have been denied adoption, crowd control, setting alarms, survey grounds, and securing all League buildings.


Position: Adoption Counselor
Hours: Part-Time
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will posses two years of customer service experience, be detailed oriented and have excellent communications skills. High School Diploma required.

Responsibilities:

We are currently looking for a full-time Adoption Counselor. In this position you will educate and counsel adopters on humane education and basic behavioral techniques. Schedule appointments, answer phone inquiries in a timely manner and process pets admitted through Adoption Counseling. Various other duties as assigned.


MEDICAL CENTER

Position: Medical Services Driver
Hours: Part-Time
Requirements:

The successful candidate will have a Clean and Valid Drivers License, excellent communications skills and the ability to work independently. As well as, be flexible to work three 8 hour shifts in a week.

Responsibilities:

We are currently looking for a Part-Time Medical Services Driver. In this position you will provide transportation for the animals in the Senior for Senior Program and pets that are in need for specialized cared; as well as, provide administrative support for the day-to-day responsibilities of the program.


Position: Client Services Representative
Hours: Full-Time
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and telephone skills, be organized, detail oriented and able to multi-task. Must have basic computer skills. Previous experience in a Veterinary office preferred.

Responsibilities:

We are seeking a Full-Time Receptionist for our Medical Center. As a receptionist you will be providing customer service to clinic clients. Responsibilities include put are not limited to handling incoming calls, scheduling appointments, processing records and worksheets.


Position: Dispensary
Hours: Full-Time
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have excellent math skills and a flexible schedule. Pharmacy Technician experience or Certification preferred.

Responsibilities:

We are currently looking to staff two Full-Time Dispensarist. In this position you will be responsible for calculating, preparing and dispensing all prescribed medications.


Licensed Veterinary Technician
North Shore Animal League America is looking for a licensed veterinary technician to join our Surgery Department. The veterinary technician’s role is to promote a friendly and professional environment where emphasis is placed on quality medical care and teamwork. The veterinary technician is instrumental in providing support to clients, patients and staff members. We are seeking a mature, energetic, outgoing individual with excellent communication skills who seeks to grow while helping others reach their full potential.

Responsibilities include assisting in all aspects of surgical and nursing care in Surgery. Anesthetize, prepare and monitor surgical patients. Assist DVM(s) during rounds and in surgery. Collect and process lab work. Perform technician duties such as vaccinations, educating clients and assisting with radiology. Other technical duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Active state veterinary technician license. Previous veterinary office experience a plus; effective interpersonal communication skills; available to work one weekend day and one night each week and be flexible.


Veterinary Technician
We are currently seeking full and part time veterinary technicians who have the ability to work in a fast paced environment, interact well with staff members, be detail oriented and have good communication skills. Must be flexible, working additional hours when needed. Experience a plus, but will train the right people.

Responsibilities include medicating animals, inclusive but not limited to oral and topical; carrying out veterinarian’s instructions; having a good working knowledge of medical equipment; performing dietary feedings (NE Tube/P Tube/Bottle); preparing forms and other paperwork, including laboratory test sheets and test logs; ensuring the proper documentation of medical records; identifying animals in need of medical attention; transporting animals to other departments when necessary; performing diagnostics; promoting medical knowledge to staff and clients; maintaining a clean and caring environment; stocking medical and non-medical supplies; other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum of 2 years veterinary office experience required, effective interpersonal and communication skills, available to work some weekends and evenings, with flexibility.
