Surgery Manager
North Shore Animal League America, the largest no-kill animal rescue & adoption organization in the world, has an opportunity for a mature individual with a strong sense of responsibility and leadership skills to supervise the day to day activities of our Surgery Department. The Surgery Department performs a high volume of surgeries each week. Responsibilities include supervising daily staffing requirements, insuring that the proper preparation of surgical area is completed & that all surgical cases are up to medical standards. Must be able to provide proper training to associates, insure all treatments are administered & documented accurately. Requires 2 years supervisory experience & excellent customer service skills. Human Resources Manager
North Shore Animal League America, the largest no-kill animal adoption and rescue organization in the world, seeks an experienced Human Resources Manager to provide HR generalist support. Requirements include a comprehensive knowledge of employment law and practices, experience in administration of benefits, recruitment, employee relations and performance management.

Must be well organized and have excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; must be experienced in Microsoft Windows, including excel, database management and record keeping. Must have the ability to evaluate current Human Resources processes and procedures, and to establish revised or new processes.

A Bachelor’s degree is required. The ideal candidate will have at least 7+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources positions. Database Manager
North Shore Animal League America, the largest no-kill animal adoption & rescue organization in the world, seeks an experienced Database Manager. We are a non-profit organization that has an annual budget of approximately 33 million dollars. This position will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and maintenance of the database and to review related processes and procedures to establish revised or new processes. Also responsible to ensure that the database supports all fundraising activities, strategies and goals of the organization, to oversee the production of standardized and custom reports, train staff for database competency and interface with the Finance staff for consistent revenue reporting and data reconciliation.

Position requires a Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of related progressive experience, preferably with at least 2-3 years of this experience in the non-profit sector. Must be experienced in MS Office, have advanced excel skills, experience in relational database management and an understanding of database design and structure with the ability to manage an outside database hosting vendor. Must be detail oriented with excellent analytical skills, a team player with the ability to interact with staff at all levels and to work independently with minimal supervision.

Kennel Manager

Veterinary Medical Director
North Shore Animal League America, the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization located in Pt. Washington, NY is seeking a hands-on Veterinary Medical Director with high level management skills, to develop our full service Pet Health Center, which is open to the general public, this practice provides high quality affordable veterinary care for pets and pet owners. Other responsibilities include, overseeing our modern “state-of-the-art” Medical Center that takes care of the League animals that have been adopted and ones that are still waiting to go to their forever home. On average the Medical Center has 150 animals hospitalized and 200 outpatients are seen for examinations and treatments. In addition 27,000 vaccinations are administered annually to keep our former residents happy and healthy. In this position you will also provide medical leadership to our 15 veterinarians and be the visionary for our medical center. The Director serves as a practicing veterinarian. Must be licensed DVM in NY. Staff Veterinarians
North Shore Animal League America (NSALA), the nation’s largest no-kill animal adoption and rescue organization in the world, seeks a full time veterinarian to join our team of professionals.
At NSAL America, we practice high quality medicine in a shelter environment, which includes general practice, pediatrics, surgeries, hospital rounds and spay/neuter clinics as well as managing a large and challenging medical and surgical caseload. Our state-of-the-art Medical Center is fully equipped with digital x-ray, pulse ox, tonopen, 4 oxygen cages, ultrasound machine, blood pressure monitors, IV fluid pumps and full dental & orthopedic equipment.

ADOPTION CENTER

Trainer - Pet Behavior

Duties include preparing animals for adoption, which may involve animals with various behavior issues. Position: Offsite Adoptions Associate
Hours: Full-time, Thursday-Sunday (10 hour shifts)
Requirements:

Strong desire to work hands-on with animals. Must be mature and dependable.

Responsibilities:

Assist with the organization and set-up of the event. Clean and handle the animals. Provide information to adopters about the animals and assist them with the adoption process. Complete/process adoption forms.


Position: Adoption Services Associate
Hours: Part-time, includes 1 weekend shift
Requirements:

Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, customer relation skills, and the ability to deal with the public in sometimes difficult situations.

Responsibilities:

Inform potential adopters that they have been denied, crowd control, set alarms, lock and secure all League buildings, survey grounds, and other duties as assigned.


Position: Adoption Counselor
Hours: Part-time, Monday and Friday
Requirements:

Good communication skills. Must possess excellent customer service skills and the ability to deal patiently with the public. Organized and detail oriented. Some animal experience necessary.

Responsibilities:

Educate the public with inquiries and schedule appointments. Handle adoption returns and process paperwork. Conduct the orientation portion of training classes. Handle animals and assist with vaccinations. Light cleaning and other duties as assigned.


Position: Cashier
Hours: Part-time, 1- 8 hour shift
Requirements:

Excellent math skills. Detail oriented and thorough. Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to handle multiple tasks at any given time.

Responsibilities:

Process daily deposits. Prepare deposit/box money envelopes. Reconcile cash errors for the Kennel, Medical Center, Nursery, Inventory, and the A/C department, maintain cash office supplies.


Position: Kennel Associate
Hours: Part-time, includes 1 weekend shift
Requirements:

Entry level position. Strong desire to work with animals

Responsibilities:

Approach adopters and provide information about the animals. Clean and handle kennel animals. Complete/process adoption forms, and work in the Main Adoption Office.



MEDICAL CENTER

Position: Vet Tech, Surgery
Hours: Full-time, includes 1 weekend shift
Requirements:

Must be licensed or license eligible

Responsibilities:

Anesthetize, prepare and monitor surgical patients. Assist doctors during rounds and surgery. Collect and process blood work. Perform technical duties such as radiology, vaccinations, and client education.
