Lauren Stein, D.V.M
Dr. Lauren M. Stein graduated from the University of Pennsylvania: School of Veterinary Medicine. After spending many years in private practice in New York City, she joined the League as a per diem veterinarian in the fall of 2004. Dr. Stein realized that shelter medicine was "where her heart was" and accepted a full-time position at the North Shore Animal League America Medical Center in June 2005. Since her start at the League in 2004, Dr. Stein has adopted "special needs animals" including a dog, a few cats and even a bunny! Dr. Stein has also opened her home by serving as an official foster care parent to three needy cats named Grace, Cricket and Avida. Dr. Stein's interests include internal medicine, infectious disease, soft tissue surgery, and trap-neuter-release programs that help control the overpopulation of stray cats in New York State.
Giuseppina Bazan, D.V.M
Dr. Bazan is a graduate of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in Saint Kitts, West Indies. During her time in the Caribbean, she participated in a wildlife conservation group that tracked and protected the sea turtles that nested on the island. Dr. Bazan completed her clinical year in the rural town of Urbana, at the University of Illinois. As a new graduate, she joined North Shore Animal League America's team of veterinarians in July, 2006. Her pets include her cat Crystal, which was adopted in St. Kitts and a green-cheeked Conure parrot, Kiwi. Her professional affiliations include the New York State Veterinary Medical Society and Long Island Veterinary Medical Association.
Atlee Douglas, D.V.M
Dr. Douglas is a graduate from Tuskegee University – “the pride of the swift, growing south.” He joined North Shore Animal League America's medical center team of veterinarians in 1990. Dr. Douglas has a great interest in stray and rescue animal issues, and he has extensive experience in soft tissue surgeries as well as exotic pets.
Gerard Laheney, D.V.M
Dr. Laheney has had a long relationship with North Shore Animal League America. A lifetime resident of Port Washington, Dr. Laheney adopted his first of many “North Shore” animals at age five, and later joined NSALA's team at age15. Too young to work in the medical center, he became a kennel associate, and later a rescue team member. He left for the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he received his Bachelor of Science in pre-veterinary animal science in 1996. Dr. Laheney then went on to attend the University of Liverpool in England where he received his BVSc, MRCVS in July 2001. His veterinary travels included months spent lambing on farms in North Wales, externships in Southern Wales, Western England, and Florida, as well as various fundraising endeavors in the Netherlands. After a year in private practice where Dr. Laheney enjoyed a role working with a local municipal shelter, he returned to his roots here at the League in 2003 to pursue his interest in shelter medicine.
Olga Korobkova, D.V.M
Dr. Korobkova has been a staff veterinarian in the League's medical center since September 2005. She graduated from St. George's University School of Veterinary Medicine, Grenada, West Indies in 2005, completing a year's clinical work at the University of Illinois Teaching Hospital. In the West Indies, Dr. Korobkova was active with the Grenada Feral Cat Project, Spay/Neuter Clinic and Foster Parent Program. Dr. Korobkova's experience includes work at the Bay Ridge Animal Hospital in Brooklyn, NY, the Champagne Humane Society in Illinois, and she was a member of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners and the American Veterinary Medical Association, Student Chapter.
Joan Gregoritsch, D.V.M
Dr. Gregoritsch joined North Shore Animal League America in 1994, as a medical center veterinarian. A graduate of the School of Veterinary Medicine, at the University of Georgia, Dr. Gregoritsch worked at the Animal Medical Center in New York City before joining NSALA. Her veterinary related experiences include work with emergency veterinary medicine, small animals and farm animals.
Suzanne Pfeffer, D.V.M
As a 1999 graduate of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, St. Kitts, West Indies, and an undergraduate of Oklahoma State University, School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Pfeffer joined North Shore Animal League America's medical center in 2006. Prior to her work at NSALA, Dr. Pfeffer practiced veterinary medicine at several hospitals and shelters throughout New York.
Linda Treglia, D.V.M
Dr. Treglia achieved her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY in 1996, and received her Bachelor's degree from Fordham University in Biology. Dr. Treglia joined North Shore Animal League America in 1997 as a staff veterinarian in the medical center. Prior to her work with NSALA, Dr. Treglia practiced veterinary medicine at various animal medical centers, hospitals, and emergency service facilities throughout New York City.
Sarah Reed, D.V.M
Dr. Reed joined North Shore Animal League America in 2006, as a veterinarian intern. As a recent graduate from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine, where Dr. Reed achieved her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, this internship offered first year graduates of veterinary school an education and appreciation for shelter medicine through a course of study at the Alex Lewyt Veterinary Hospital, on the NSALA campus facility. Dr. Reed earned her undergraduate degree from Tufts University and a Post Baccalaureate in Premedical studies from Columbia University.
Jessica Palmeri, D.V.M
Dr. Palmeri joined North Shore Animal League America in 2006, as a veterinarian intern. This internship offered first year graduates of veterinary school an education and appreciation for shelter medicine through a course of study at the Alex Lewyt Veterinary Hospital, on the NSALA campus facility. Dr. Palmeri achieved a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Ross University, School of Veterinary Medicine, St. Kitts, West Indies.
