We are extremely excited to report that this year was our most successful Adoptathon to date! Thank you to all who contributed in making Pet Adoptathon 2009 the best ever!

On May 2-3, 2009, thousands of shelters around the world joined North Shore Animal League America in our 15th Annual Pet Adoptathon. During this massive adoption effort, many participating shelters joined the Animal League in staying open for 36 straight hours, saving as many lives as possible.

Crowds were at an all time high at our Port Washington, NY shelter as thousands of people came to see the highlight of Adoptathon 2009, spokesperson and renowned dog expert, Dog Whisperer, Cesar Millan. Mr. Millan was extremely gracious and hospitable as he conversed with fans, posed for photos and gave autographs. He introduced adopters to his new online coaching course, "Sessions with Cesar" and spoke on the horrors of puppy mills followed by a viewing of his latest National Geographic Channel's Dog Whisperer episode, "Inside Puppy Mills."

There was fun for the whole family at Pet Adoptathon 2009 including activities under the main tent such as the Purina Incredible Dog Team, the Animal League's Agility Dog Show, face painting, raffles, a caricaturist, pet psychic Patricia Bono and more.

Enjoy some highlights from our record-breaking 36-hour adoption extravaganza.
