A Special Thank You

July 9, 2007

Woohooohooowooowhoo. Hi everyone. Look, I can whistle! Woohoohoowoohoo. I’m so happy today, I’m whistlin’. Something really cool happened, and I wanted to share it with all my friends. I got a really neat letter in the mail, and you’re just not going to believe it. Here’s what it said:

Dear Bradley,

My name is Sebastian. Now… don’t get excited – I know your lungs need their rest – but I should tell you: I’m a cat. You may be asking yourself, “What is a cat doing writing me a letter?” Well, I’ll tell you. Normally, I’m not fond of dogs all that much. I mean… they’re ok when they’re not acting silly or getting in the way, but one must admit, they’re a tad on the annoying side. However, all that has changed for me now, Bradley. Those are yesterday’s feelings. Today is a new day, and I owe today and every other day of my life…. to you, Bradley…to you. Let me explain.

Thanks to you and all of your caring and generous supporters, I was able to have the same life-saving surgery that you had! Yes, I, too, had bad lobes in my lung removed; and like you, ole chap, I also survived the surgery against unfavorable odds. I’m happy to report that I’ve been recovering brilliantly and will probably have a normal life. I have to hand it to you, Bradley… your pioneering medical endeavors have made a big difference in my life and the lives of countless others. Your courage is an inspiration to us all. In fact, I have a canine friend – yes, that’s correct – a canine friend (I told you I’ve turned over a new leaf) who also had the same surgery thanks to this incredible outpouring of kindness. Again – thank you, dear friend. I owe you one.

Sincerely,

Sebastian the cat

Can you beat that? That cat had the same surgery as me! It’s good to know that we’re not alone in tough times like these, you know? And it’s even better to know that even if you may not know it, you can be helping! Helping is grrrreat! I sure do hope I get a chance to meet Sebastian the cat.

I better get back to practicing my whistling now. Hopefully soon I’ll be able to do it without spitting all over the place. Today is a super day.

~ Bradley
