It's amazing how three little Chihuahuas born without front legs have captured the hearts of countless people around the world. They're still drawing in international attention and they're still making headlines... and fortunately, they're still making progress. In fact, there is now a fourth Chihuahua in the group turning this tiny trio into a cuddly quartet.

Recently, the London Daily Mail visited North Shore Animal League America to follow up on the progress of Venus, Carmen and Pablo, deformed victims of what we suspect to be backyard breeding. Enthusiastic about the well-being of the dogs, and eager to get as much Chihuahua news as possible, they were excited to learn that there is a new Chihuahua brother in town, and his name is Scooter.

At first, Chihuahua mom and Animal League veterinary technician, Donna Imhoff was concerned about how Venus, Carmen and Pablo would receive the latest addition to the group. Donna knew in her heart that this was where Scooter belonged and hoped the other Chihuahuas would feel the same about their adopted brother. The three are a very close group and very attached to each other, but little Scooter scooted his way right into their hearts. |

Like the others, Scooter also has an aluminum cart with Velcro-held polar fleece padding for comfortable body support and lightweight foam wheels for ease of movement. As you may have guessed, Scooter got his name from his enjoyment of scooting all around in his cart and is very good at it. Venus, however, was having a difficult time with her aluminum cart. The smallest of all the dogs, Venus was just too little and too light for the aluminum cart, so Donna's husband, John used his engineering expertise and built Venus her very own, custom titanium cart with slightly smaller wheels. He explained, "Titanium is much lighter and allows little Venus to travel much more freely without the danger of tipping over."
The four are just the cutest little things you've ever seen. They go and do everything together and are courteous and attentive to each other. Donna couldn't be happier with the Chihuahuas' progress and has even cut her hours to part-time so that she can attend to them more. "It's a lot of work, but it's worth it. I love each and every one of them, and if I find another one like them, I'll adopt him, too" Donna confesses.
Together, Venus, Carmen, Pablo, Scooter, Donna and John are one big, happy family. The Animal League would like to thank all its dedicated supporters and sponsors for making rescues like these and so many others possible. Without you, it couldn't be done. |

North Shore Animal League America rescued Venus, Carmen and Pablo from backyard breeders in 2007 and the trio has been doing wonderfully ever since. They are part of the Animal League's Sponsor Program which will care and provide for them for their entire lives.
