Daulton and Kruk are two sister cats that came to the League in 2004. Their owners were moving and unable to bring their feline companions with them. Though heartbroken that they had to part with their faithful friends, they knew that North Shore Animal League America was their best choice for taking care of these cats and eventually getting them adopted together into a loving home.
Both Daulton and Kruk had lifetime heart conditions along with hyperthyroidism. Special needs like these, in addition to both having to be adopted together, makes for a difficult and often long journey before being adopted. Often, older cats can take much longer to place, too, as kittens are in such high demand.
The cats were obviously well cared for and had excellent temperaments. They were very sweet and loving, playful and curious. They had everything necessary to be wonderful pets, but time kept passing and people kept passing them by.
One amazing day in 2006, a very special woman came into the League looking for a pet. It didn't take long before she saw Kruk and Dalulton and instantly fell in love. We informed her of their special needs, and it only seemed to fuel her affections for them. She found it in her heart to care for these beautiful cats that had waited for almost two years for this climactic moment.
Once without a home or an understanding of why they were homeless, Kruk and Daulton were now walking out the door after so long with a second chance and a new life ahead of them.
