Re: Hurricane Katrina Rescue Efforts

While the team waited to depart on our next rescue mission, we were able to spend the day at the Greater Birmingham Humane Society helping walk dogs, clean cages, and just love the animals. 

By late afternoon, the plan was set for us to travel to Hattiesburg, Mississippi where hundreds of animals are housed in a staging area. We will be bringing much needed supplies and our willingness to do what ever is needed to help care for the animals.

The League's mobile unit will be utilized as an extra holding area for several days.  While there are animals on board, it will also become our home away from home so that the animals will not be alone. 

It is now 4pm and we have 4 hours of driving ahead of us hoping to make our destination by nightfall.

We just want to say thank you to everyone for their support and for helping take care of all the misplaced animals.
