On Friday, September 30th our mobile unit returned to the League after more than a month on the road in some of the hardest hit regions in the Gulf Coast. On board were 41 animals rescued from staging areas in Birmingham, Alabama and Gonzales, Louisiana. The 15 dogs, 18 puppies and 8 kittens were welcomed by a crowd of League associates and volunteers who went to work providing the care and attention these animals need and deserve. The mobile unit had been utilized to transport animals from overcrowded triage staging areas to temporary shelters where workers cataloged the animals with the hopes of reuniting them with their pet parents as soon as possible. These vulnerable animals have been through so much. They've been displaced from their homes and families, survived dangerous conditions and lived in temporary, makeshift shelters with unfamiliar noises and sounds. The League is currently trying to find animals without owners the loving homes they deserve. For information on adopting, click here. |
