Date: September 1, 2005 Time: 9:58 am EST Re: Hurricane Katrina Rescue Efforts From: Diane Our first day of travel went well. No traffic or problems of any kind. Now we are on our final descent to our destination of Birmingham, Alabama where we will set up camp to see how we can assist in rescuing as many animals as possible. We are hopeful that we will arrive tonight but it is going to be a long day for the drivers. Approximatly 10 to 12 hours ahead of them to cover. I give them a world of credit. Watching the news and seeing all the newspapers really hits you hard. We are excited to do what we can to help. As per the shelters request, we stopped off at the store to pick up some much needed drinking water for the hard working staff at the Greater Birmingham Humane Society. Cannot wait to meet them, see their shelter and reach out and touch the animals. Say hello to everyone from us, Diane, Mike and Jen
