Danny boy is a big, obviously intelligent dog, who looks you straight in the eye with an - I’ve seen it all and let’s get on with it - kind of air. I liked him immediately.
Why, though, after an entire year is he still here?
The last dog left from the more than 1,000 rescued from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina last August and September, Danny Boy is a symbol of the League’s unwavering commitment to help each and every animal that comes into our care find a loving home.
In the immediate weeks and months following the storm, word spread about the League’s rescue missions to the Gulf area and people came by the hundreds to adopt the innocent victims of Katrina. But now a year has passed and one survivor remains. Danny Boy will always have a warm bed here at the League because we never give up on finding a homeless or abandoned pet their new forever home, regardless of how long it takes. Companion animals have so much unconditional love to give and we know the right family will come along and give Danny Boy his second chance at a happy life.
If you or anyone you know is interested in adopting Danny Boy, please visit the League or click here to learn more.
As we remember the animal victims of Hurricane Katrina and celebrate the lives that were saved, North Shore Animal League America would like to thank our generous supporters who make our mission to rescue, nurture and adopt animals in need possible. It is this support that enables us to continue to care for animals like Danny Boy and respond to future emergencies.
Please donate generously today so that we may continue to save lives and find loving happy homes for the animals like Danny Boy and the hundreds of puppies still being rescued from the Gulf Coast region each month. Your care makes a difference!
