We know you remember our beautiful Collie mix baby, Spikey who sadly suffers from fatal Congestive Heart Failure. Well, we thought you’d enjoy seeing how wonderfully he’s doing in his foster home.
Spikey and his foster mother have very quickly become extremely close. It seems that it was love at first sight; and that wild whirlwind of love doesn’t show any signs of slowing down.
Recently, Spikey visited us at North Shore Animal League America. He was greeted with shrieks of excitement and wonder as we marveled at his gorgeously groomed coat, his huge, telling smile and the satisfying look of contentment in his eyes. Spikey looked like a whole, new dog. Our baby was finally the happy family pet he was meant to be.
We couldn’t be happier for Spikey. Spikey stole a place in many of our hearts here at the Animal League and in many of our friends’ and supporters’. Our puppy-dog is hugely happy and will live out the rest of his life covered in kisses and lavished with love – all in a home he can call his own. His life has changed, and he has forever changed the life of his foster mother, who has lovingly expressed this to us again and again.
North Shore Animal League America can not stress enough the importance of Foster Care. Foster Care is an opportunity to care and love for a special-needs animal in your own home, without having to make the long-term commitment of ownership. It is also an opportunity for a special-needs animal to heal or grow in the privacy, quiet and comfort of a loving home. In addition, North Shore Animal League America provides all medical care the pet may need at no cost in our facility in Port Washington, New York.
Foster Care is so vital to the health, socialization and overall well-being of our animals. Just look at what it’s done for Spikey! If you love animals and want to help but can not commit to a permanent pet, then Foster Care can be the answer you’ve been looking for. Foster Care is the perfect solution for a variety of scenarios.
North Shore Animal League America is always looking for Foster Care parents to help us love and care for all of our pets.
