Did you ever have a heavy feeling in your chest so deep that it made it hard to breathe? I did. In fact it turned out to be much more than just a cold.
My name is Jayson. I'm an adult, male cat and I just had a serious operation. This operation saved my life - without it, I would not have made it. It's called a lobectomy, and North Shore Animal League America and their Help Me Heal Program made sure I got it.

When I first came to the Animal League, I had severe respiratory disease in my lungs. It was so bad that the lobe in one of my lungs had completely collapsed. The Veterinarians said that there was no choice but to surgically remove the bad lobe. This is an intensive operation that needs the skilled precision of a specialist. It's also a dangerous operation. But the Animal League is experienced in this sort of thing, so I wasn't too worried about it. They have a great track record.
Do you remember a dog named Bradley? He's a legend here at the Animal League. He had the same exact operation I had, and the Help Me Heal program saved his life too! Not only that, the Animal League also found him the perfect home in a very specific environment where he could get the best possible care. Like Bradley, I also need just the right home for a kitty with my condition. My home needs to be non-smoking and kept free of allergens. |
I'm still recovering from my surgery, but I know it's only a matter of time before I'm chasing laser lights and skidding across the floor as I skillfully prey on helpless tin foil balls.
The Animal League told me that people like you make it possible for kitties like me and dogs like Bradley to get these life-saving operations and even the aftercare we need for good lives. That's so nice of you. |

I just wanted to say thank you. I'm really looking forward to feeling all better and deftly hunting inanimate objects. Thanks for helping me to get this surgery - and don't forget that there are countless others who still need operations and medical care too. It sure is a good thing we cats have nine lives, but honestly, all I really want is one healthy one.
