Hi. My name is Sweet William. I don’t really remember much of what’s happened to me in the last couple of days, but the doctors here at the League told me that they saved my life. I’m only six weeks old, and they tell me I am only 1.75 lbs. The doctors think that I was hit by a car.
Right now, I don’t feel very well and am suffering from head trauma, eye problems, lung bruises, a pelvic fracture, and two broken legs. As if that’s not enough, I’ve also been diagnosed with anemia, an upper respiratory infection, internal parasites and fleas. The doctors think that because I was in such bad shape, I must have been hurt quite a while before someone found me. I feel very lucky to be alive.
Right now I can’t walk because of the fractures in my legs. These fractures will need to be surgically corrected when I’m a little stronger. I don’t have much of an appetite yet, and the litter box is a challenge with these broken legs, but the doctors are making me as comfortable as possible. Because I’m so small, there isn’t much that can be done right away, but at least I’m safe and know that soon, I’ll be feeling much better. They even say I will grow up to live a pretty normal life. I sure am looking forward to that.
The League told me that because of so many wonderful and generous supporters, I can get the medical care and treatment that I need so much. They said that because of you, I have a second chance at life. Otherwise, I may have died.
If you want to help me, you can contribute to the Help Me Heal Program, where kind and caring people like you worry about little animals like me. Please support this life-saving program. It’s so very important.
