Do you remember Swiss - our Labrador Retriever mix who was tied to a pole and abandoned? Well, because Swiss had bite marks when he came to the Animal League's care, he was required by law to stay in rabies quarantine for six months.
 |
At the end of the six-month quarantine, when it was clear that Swiss did not have rabies, he went to the adoption floor and awed passersby with his lovable charm and dazzling good looks. It was only a couple of weeks before the inevitable happened; Swiss found his perfect match and was adopted.
Swiss, now called "Buddy," is thriving in his new home, and he and his new owner have become the best of pals.
It is always so exciting to see one of our pets find a loving, permanent home. Congratulations Buddy! We'll miss you. |
Please help us make more adoption success stories!
Dear Friends,
 Before |
Several months ago, we introduced you to Swiss, our cute and kooky Labrador Retriever mix who had been tied to a pole and abandoned. As we reported, because Swiss had canine bite marks on him, we were required by law to hold him in quarantine for six months to make sure that he did not have rabies.
Well, Swiss still has two months to go, but so far, so good! Swiss is an extremely playful and affectionate young man. He has been going to doggie school and has gotten his basic obedience down like: sit, down, stay and wait. He has also graduated from a training collar to a gentle leader (this is to prevent him from pulling ahead when he goes for walks). It turns out that Swiss is quite the ball player too. He chases and retrieves the ball like a pro. Now we're working on getting him to give it back! |
Because Swiss is in quarantine, he can not play or socialize with other dogs. In a couple of months however, when quarantine is up, Animal League behavioral specialists will be working on getting Swiss doggie-socialized.
North Shore Animal League America would like to thank everyone for supporting Swiss and all the animals in our care. When Swiss first came to us, he was emaciated and withdrawn. We can not convey the pleasure we feel to see him grow into a happy, healthy dog.
Please continue to help us support Swiss and the countless other animals we help every day. It's because of you that Swiss is one step closer to finding a permanent, loving home. |
 After |
Sincerely,
North Shore Animal League America
