My name is Willie and I’m 2 months old. I know I don’t look so hot right now, but things really aren’t as bad as they seem.

As you can see from my photo, I’ve had a bit of an ordeal. I have a severe respiratory infection and poor eyes. Actually, the globe in my left eye ruptured and needed to be removed. That’s why I have on this pesky e-collar – so I don’t irritate my eye socket by scratching or rubbing.

But you know what? Things were far worse just a short time ago. I was lost and roaming the street very sick. Both my eyes were in horrible shape – red and burning. I didn’t know where I was or how I got there, I had no food or water and I was really scared.

North Shore Animal League America saved me from all that. They saved me from dying too, because had I been out there on my own much longer, I would never had made it with that respiratory infection. It was really bad.

The Animal League gave me a safe, warm and loving place to recover. They put me in a program that saves lives called the Help Me Heal Program. The doctors have been taking care of me for weeks – working on that infection with fluids, hydration and antibiotics and decided that the best thing was for my left eye to come out.

All things considering, I feel pretty good. A few more weeks of expert medical care and I’ll be good as new. In fact, one eye isn’t much different than two. I’m even in a really good mood most of the time. I still like to jump and play and swat at the vets as they go by. Ha ha ha. It’s fun!

The Animal League told me that it’s because of passionate people like you that I’m alive today.

Because you care, countless animals are saved every day! Please keep caring, please keep saving innocent lives.
