You know the old saying: If Mohammed can't come to the mountain, then the mountain will go to Mohammed. Well, that's just what North Shore Animal League America is doing for area animal lovers.

Tri-state area folks who can't come to the League can stay near home and still adopt a lovable dog, cat, puppy, or kitten, thanks to our Mobile Adoption Centers. These huge 35 foot vans can really do it all. Inside, it's business as usual as potential adopters can become acquainted with their soon-to-be new best friends while adoption counselors conduct interviews and process forms -- just like at the League. With four rooms, twenty-seven stainless steel cages, and four air conditioning and heating systems, they are truly a miniature North Shore Animal League America on wheels!

Neighborhood sites and times are publicized in newspaper ads and on our website. Interested adopters are able to select the most convenient location for them. But rest assured, our high standards are maintained by mobility -- the same criteria that are used in the Adoption Center are adhered to for potential offsite adopters.

BUT WAIT -- these Adoption Vans can wear two hats! In case of fire, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, or any other natural calamity, these unique vehicles can be transformed into disaster relief units to help reunite distraught owners with their lost pets. In addition, medical supplies, special equipment, and League veterinarians can all be brought to the disaster site to treat victims and keep them safe until their owners can find them.

To help place even more pets in loving homes, North Shore Animal League America shares these huge motor coaches with other shelters, allowing them to create similar mobile programs of their own --but with their own pets, their own locations, and their own adoption standards.
