Foster care is an opportunity to care for an animal that isn't yet ready for adoption. It is an alternative for those who cannot make a long-term commitment, but would still like to help homeless pets in need. Fostering a pet is an extremely rewarding experience. North Shore Animal League America provides all medical care at our medical center at no cost, plus basic needs for your foster care pet including food, bowls, crate, litter and more.

The Animal League regularly rescues animals in need from shelters that would be euthanized due to illness, space, age and behavior. As a foster parent you would become part of a bigger picture at the Animal League. Not only would you be helping the foster animal in need, but you are also helping us make room to save another animal in need.

Kittens and puppies that are too young for adoption

Orphaned kittens or puppies in need of 'round the clock care

Senior pets or those with special needs that need a home to live out the rest of their days in peace and comfort

All kinds! We can match the perfect foster care pet to your individual needs. Whether you work or stay at home, have a small amount of time or want to make a full-time commitment, we have a pet you can help. Fostering is an opportunity to make a difference in an animal's life.
