North Shore Animal League America is a non profit organization, dedicated to helping thousands of homeless animals in this country find a happy home. The League offers an array of pet-related services that include veterinary consultation, spay/neuter services, professional grooming and even pet-related counseling. This assortment of services and programs are very costly to maintain, and we must optimize the use of fundraising, pooled with very generous donations from wonderful people across the country in order to keep our operation properly funded and running smoothly. Here are some examples of fundraising activities that any class, scout group, or individual child or family can engage in to help us raise money for our admirable cause.
Lemonade Stands
 |
Lemonade Stands are a classic American tradition that always attracts people’s attention on a hot summer day. Not only does a cold cup of lemonade help beat the heat, it helps provide people with a way to donate their money to a good cause. |
Penny/Coin Collections
Penny Collections can easily be conducted during school hours, scout meetings, church services or at any public venue. Most people don’t like loose change, and are more than willing to participate in an activity that benefits helpless and homeless animals around the world. This activity encourages kids and adults alike to participate with loose change while becoming more aware of North Shore Animal League America’s mission.
Can and Bottle Drives
Can and Bottle Drives are another classic example used by many youth and charity groups to help raise money. This activity always draws public attention and participation because it teaches about how recycling saves the environment, while also contributing funding to a very worthy cause.
Bake Sales
Bake Sales are a fun and tasty activity that enables children, parents and teachers to collaborate together in raising money for a wonderful cause. Cookies can be made in the shape of cats while muffins can be made in the shape of doggie biscuits. If the wonderful sights and smells aren’t enough to attract a lot of attention, make posters and advertise the fact that all proceeds from your hard work will benefit the abandoned pets of North Shore Animal League America.
Towel and Toy Drive
A Towel and Toy Drive is designed to help in the collection of old blankets, towels or pillows that might be left unused around the house. They could be used to help dry off a dog or cat after a flea bath, or offer some comfort to an aging, sick or underage animal. This activity also means looking for any old kid toys suitable for dogs and cats, such as tennis and ping pong balls.
Car Wash
A car wash is a terrific way to kick off the spring and summer months. A local church or school should be happy to lend you their parking lot, and then it’s all about finding other volunteers to help organize and run the actual activity. A nominal fee should be charged for your services, and be sure to let all the people know that this event is to benefit the abandoned pets at North Shore Animal League America.
