North Shore Animal League America was recently featured on eBay and thanks to the generosity of the eBay community nearly $12,000 was raised to help continue our mission to rescue, nurture and adopt close to 20,000 homeless and orphaned pets into loving homes.

Here is just a sample of how your generosity is helping North Shore Animal League America save pets' lives every day:

  • Out-of-State Rescue, our most far-reaching program, is implemented through well-equipped, climate-controlled mobile units bringing pets to the Animal League from overcrowded facilities in other states. Closer to home, our rescue mobile units routinely visit shelters in the tri-state area, rescue the puppies, kittens, dogs, and cats slated for death, and bring them to the safety of our Adoption Center.

  • Our month-long cooperative initiative, Tour for Life®, has been promoting the importance of adopting shelter dogs and cats as a life-saving measure since its inception in 2001. Every year, North Shore Animal League America's mobile units head out on simultaneous cross-country routes, destined for the west coast, Middle America, and south east cities, to help animal shelters and rescue groups adopt out homeless pets.

  • Our Alex Lewyt Veterinary Medical Center, a modern "state-of-the-art" medical center, is a nationally respected facility open every day of the year and includes pet and owner-friendly examination and waiting rooms, a surgery suite rivaling those in human hospitals, and an Intensive Care Unit providing around-the-clock care to the sickest pets. Our highly trained medical staff provides needy pets with a full range of medical care, from routine vaccinations to complicated surgeries.

  • Pet Adoptathon® began in 1995 as a North Shore Animal League America adoption weekend, with the goal of finding homes for each and every dog and cat at the Animal League. Today, the Animal League's Pet Adoptathon®, (held the first weekend in May each year) works with more than 2,200 animal shelters across the United States and 26 countries worldwide to adopt animals into loving homes for 36 continuous hours.
