Hurricane Ike has ravaged the Texas coastline
A letter from North Shore Animal League America's President, J. John Stevenson
September 13, 2008
Dear Friends and Supporters,
Hurricane Ike has ravaged the Texas coastline and beyond, and once again North Shore Animal League America is responding to a plea for help. Our 40-ft. Mobile Rescue Unit, manned by our Emergency Response Team, is en route to Texas to provide relief to area shelters in the affected region where the situation is dire. Working in cooperation with the Humane Society SPCA of Bexar County, we will assist several shelters whose animals have been evacuated from the direct path of Hurricane Ike. Our rescue efforts will help alleviate dangerously overcrowded conditions. We will transport many animals back to the Animal League where they will be adopted into loving homes.
Please continue to come back and visit this Animal League Rescue Information Center for updates on our Hurricane Ike rescue and to follow the Emergency Response Team's blog.
The dedicated members of our Emergency Response Team have been on round-the-clock call, as this is our third emergency response in the past three weeks. Hurricane Ike comes on the heels of a West Virginia puppy mill rescue (where we saved over 120 dogs) and the retrieval of 79 displaced animals from Hurricane Gustav. All of these animals were transported to our shelter by our Mobile Rescue Units.
Your desperately needed financial support will enable us to carry on vital rescue work and go wherever we are needed most. Please help us in our mission to save as many innocent animals as possible. Thank you for your generosity.
Sincerely,

J. John Stevenson
