Marina

Marina, barely more than a kitten herself, was abandoned here at the League with her five kittens on Thursday, June 30th. She weighed just over seven pounds and each of her kittens, approximately four weeks old, was each under a pound. They needed care as soon as possible. The summer heat can take its toll and quickly dehydrate a nursing cat and at only four weeks, kittens are vulnerable in the best conditions.

Soon Marina's health took an unfortunate turn for the worse when she became very ill and ran a high temperature for several days. She was moved from foster care to the emergency care unit where she received round the clock monitoring, IV fluids, and baths to try and bring her temperature down. She was so sick she could no longer care for her litter.
