Jesse joined the Animal League's Sponsor Program in 2008. Jesse is an adult domestic shorthair cat, who has been with us since September, 2007. Jesse is 11 pounds and is a very sweet cat who just loves to be pet and snuggled.
Unfortunately, poor Jesse suffers from two life-long conditions: a heart murmur/heart disease and hyperthyroidism. She also has a deep corneal scar which blurs her vision. |
Jesse is on medication for her hyperthyroidism which she receives once daily and will need for the rest of her life. However, we are happy to report that Jesse has a full life expectancy.
Currently in the Animal League's care, she is eagerly waiting for someone special to scoop her up and take her to a Foster or forever home. We are happy to have her in our Sponsor Program, where we can take care of her medical needs for her lifetime. Jesse is a big mush and would be the perfect addition to any family.

Jesse's Updates
3rd Quarter 2009
Jesse continues to be spoiled at the Animal League. Some of the staff members that love her most sneak her a few extra toys to play with, which she seems to love. In her "duplex" cage, with two levels for her to jump around in, there is a nice, stuffed toy up top that she enjoys batting around when she's feeling frisky. As for her medical condition, Jesse has been doing well and continues to take her medication to regulate her hyperthyroidism. However, the staff has to work hard to hide it inside some food to make sure she takes it all, which she might start to catch on to.
2nd Quarter 2009
Jesse recently had a full check-up, which included blood work, and she is doing simply wonderful. She did not need to have any changes in her medication and will continue on her special diet. Jesse, along with the staff at the Animal League, is excited about this year's Pet Adoptathon. With hundreds of animals being adopted out from our shelter in a 36 hour period, we are hopeful that Jesse will be one of the special animals that will find a new, loving home. We're sure that she will charm someone with her friendly and outgoing personality!
1st Quarter 2009
A board certified ophthalmologist recently came to the Animal League and performed an examination of Jesse's eye due to the ongoing problem with her corneal graft. Her exam went well and the staff at the Animal League was given information on how to prevent and treat Jesse's recurring eye infections. Jesse will also have a full health check-up in the upcoming month. She continues to enjoy her time with staff members and is extremely sweet with visitors. We are hopeful that she will soon find a loving family to bring her home!
4th Quarter 2008
Due to the ongoing eye irritation resulting from Jesse's past corneal graft Jesse was prescribed medication. This past month Jesse completed the antibiotic treatment for her eye and seemed happy about it even though she never protested receiving her treatment. Since completing the medication Jesse had another check-up so that her eye could be looked at to determine if the irritation had subsided. Her prognosis was good and thankfully Jesse will not need any further medical treatment for her eye at this time. As normal, Jesse continues to receive her daily medication to regulate her hyperthyroidism and continues to gobble up her special diet food with delight.
3rd Quarter 2008
Jesse continues to be a friendly and loveable cat that tends to capture the hearts of all the staff as she gallivants around the cat room in the shelter. The staff is happy to report that Jesse is quite a champ at taking her medication by now and she never gives them a problem when they administer her daily dosage. She is also very vocal when she knows she's about to be fed so the staff is well aware when Jesse is hungry. As a result of suffering from hyperthyroidism Jesse is on a special diet and tends to gobble up her food very quickly, sometimes causing a little bit of a mess. But everyone at the Animal League simply adores Jesse and loves to care for her in every way.
