Kyle joined the League's Sponsor Program in 2004. Kyle is an adult domestic short hair Tabby cat. Kyle is one of the most popular cats in the Sponsor Program – it must be his charming disposition and his alluring green eyes! Upon meeting Kyle, it was surmised by the League that he was sadly mistreated early on in his life. He was admitted to North Shore Animal League America and diagnosed as suffering from a serious upper respiratory infection. |
Because of this terrible infection, tests were performed and revealed that one of the lobes in his left lung had collapsed. He also has a condition where the muscles in his heart are thicker than they should be. He will be monitored for his heart and respiratory problems for the rest of his life. The League is committed to making Kyle's remaining years as safe and as comfortable as they can be.
Kyle's Updates
3rd Quarter 2009
Kyle continues to follow around his foster mom like a shadow. He's doing this more now than ever, especially since she does not volunteer as often as she used to and gets to spend more time at home. Of course Kyle loves having her around more often and his foster mom doesn't mind having him trail her wherever she goes. Kyle has been feeling well and has a healthy appetite as usual. He continues to nap throughout the day on both the couch and in his newly discovered favorite spot, the comfy chair in the corner. That's most likely the reason he carries around a few extra pounds.
2nd Quarter 2009
We are excited to report that Kyle came in for a check-up and passed with flying colors. While Kyle is generally a very sweet and gentle cat, he can be skittish in different surroundings. The staff at the Animal League tried to comfort him as much as possible, but he seemed glad to be on his way home after it was all over. Kyle will soon be coming back to the Animal League for an echocardiogram so that his heart can be monitored. With any luck, this visit will go just as well as his last. Of course after his medical exam at the Animal League Kyle's foster mom made sure to give him some extra attention and love. She knows that she spoils him, but he deserves it for being such a good sport and also for being such a loving and devoted companion.
1st Quarter 2009
Kyle has so many new toys from the holidays that he can't seem to choose his favorite one. His foster mom finds him playing with a different new toy each day, which puts a smile on her face. What's even better is Kyle's health. He's been feeling great and has a regular check-up scheduled for the upcoming month. We are hopeful that his check-up will go well and will not reveal any problems with his pre-existing conditions.
4th Quarter 2008
We couldn't be happier to report that Kyle continues to live his days in happiness. His heart and respiratory conditions are well monitored and have not been causing him any discomfort. Kyle feels just as good as any other friendly feline around. His foster mom advised that she and Kyle can best be described as two peas in a pod. He is her very best friend and literally scampers around her apartment at her heels wherever she goes. Thankfully the extra weight that Kyle carries around doesn't slow him down as he shadows his loving foster mom!
3rd Quarter 2008
Kyle continues to talk to his foster mom every morning. He responds with a nice loud “Meow” whenever she greets him with a warm “Good Morning Kyle.” His foster mom loves how talkative Kyle can be and she tries to carry on a conversation with this friendly feline whenever possible. Kyle also loves his daily brushing, which helps keep his coat silky and smooth. Whenever Kyle sees his foster mom holding his brush he comes running over in pure excitement!
2nd Quarter 2008
Kyle's foster mom is happy to report that Kyle may have found a way to work off his extra pounds - He recently ventured out of his foster mom's room in her retirement community, which he normally is too shy to do. He was able to run around with other cats in the halls and he truly seemed to love this. Now he's able to get some additional exercise while making new friends.
1st Quarter 2008
Kyle continues to be the sweet and lovable cat we know him to be. His health has been improving and catching up with his great spirit. He currently no longer needs to take his medication. Now he's able to enjoy his days even more - especially all the cat naps he grabs on his foster mom's big bed! When he awakes each morning he loves to talk to his foster mom with his loud meows before she leaves for work! While she's away, our shy boy Kyle doesn't dare venture out into the hallways along with the other cats in the retirement community he lives in. He waits patiently for her so they can cuddle up once again for bedtime.
4th Quarter 2007
Kyle had a recent visit to the doctor, and was given a clean bill of health. He is a healthy eater and has gained a little weight. The discoloring of his eye seems to be clearing up and he is even more beautiful than usual. Kyle and his foster mom have gotten so much closer, and their daily morning playtime is also where they do some of their best bonding. Nighttime has its own rewards, too, as Kyle prefers to sleep in his foster mom's bed, and when she calls him, he runs right to her – no matter where he is. They are the closest of friends.
3rd Quarter 2007
Kyle is certainly not suffering from a shortage of adorableness. But just try to get a snapshot! As soon as he sees the camera, Kyle stops his shenanigans and freezes, as if he knows not to be caught on film!
2nd Quarter 2007
Kyle is about as happy as a cat can be. His foster mom spoils him regularly with plenty of toys, treats and tender loving care! In fact, it seems that Kyle may have put on a few pounds, so his foster mom says she'll have to ease up on portions and won't be leaving him anymore midnight snacks for a while. Kyle doesn't seem to mind the mild diet as long as his foster mom doesn't cut back on all that love!
1st Quarter 2007
Kyle is so vocal that he practically holds a conversation. He is particularly chatty in the early hours as he wishes his foster mom a good morning. He puts his face right up to hers and gives her a good morning kiss, too. Kyle's mom says he exhibits many dog-like characteristics. Not only is he very talkative, he also likes to greet people as they walk in the door. But be careful where you step! The floor is often covered with Kyle's many toys.
4th Quarter 2006
Kyle is still on essential heart medication twice a day; however, there is no change in his heart condition which is favorable. His respiratory problems have not caused him any trouble lately. He has been enjoying playing with his favorite toy, affectionately known as "Miss Mouse" and sleeping at the foot of his foster Mom's bed. We are so grateful that Kyle will be taken care of for the rest of his life because of the League's Sponsor Program and big-hearted Sponsors like you!
3rd Quarter 2006
Kyle we are happy to report is doing just fine in his loving foster care home. He is still taking his medicine like a good boy and no changes in his condition have been detected. Because Kyle had a rough start to life, he still is leery about being picked up. But he does love to snuggle in his foster mom's lap as soon as she sits down! He is able to finally trust, and that makes us feel so good. His foster mom tells us since Kyle has come to live with her, he has become somewhat particular about what he likes to eat. We're told he'll only eat sardine, shrimp and crab flavored wet food. He turns his nose up at anything else his caregiver tries to serve! He also enjoys eating crunchies as well. It is because of your support that we can provide Kyle and the other special needs pets loving homes and needed medical care.
2nd Quarter 2006
Kyle is our newest addition to the Sponsor family. As it's been said, this handsome kitty really had a rough start to his life but now we are so thankful that he has a wonderful loving foster mom. He sure must love her a lot because her follows her all over their apartment! During the day he snoozes on the couch in the living room and in his foster moms bed at night. He has a favorite toy - a little mouse that he loves to bat all over the apartment. His medical problems do not slow him down! He gets a pill in the morning and at night and is very good about taking them. We are so glad to have Kyle with us in the Sponsor program, and we're sure you are too!
