Bradley joined the League’s Sponsor Program in 2007. Bradley is a big-hearted black Labrador-mix. When Bradley came to the League, rescued from a shelter in Tennessee that most likely would have euthanized him due to his medical condition, League veterinarians observed that whenever he started to be a frisky little puppy, he would wheeze and cough uncontrollably. He was recovering from a severe upper respiratory infection and chronic pneumonia, but also had a collapsed lobe of the lung. A complicated procedure had to be done in order to give Bradley a better quality of life and after some proceeds were generated for Bradley’s cause, the League did the impossible and saved Bradley’s life once again - first his rescue, now his life-altering surgery. |
All League staff members and volunteers waited with baited breath to hear the miraculous news of Bradley’s successful surgery and hopes of a complete recovery. Although Bradley is better, his condition still requires constant medical supervision and he remains in the Sponsor Program as its chosen mascot, representing how one animal can touch the lives of so many humans. After a long search for the perfect pet parent, the League was finally able to place Bradley into a loving forever home. We’ll be sure to keep all of Bradley’s Sponsors informed of his progress with periodic updates. Bradley made a big difference in every life he encountered; now it’s time for you to sponsor Bradley or any one of the other worthy Sponsor pets that need you now.
Bradley's Updates
3rd Quarter 2009
Bradley's summer has been off to a great start. He has been spending the warm months with his family in Connecticut at their summer home. They advised that Bradley is feeling well and loves the great outdoors. His summer home is right next to a forest and his family takes him for long walks through the trees everyday. Country living seems to suit Bradley just fine. He has even lost a few of the extra pounds he's been carrying around!
2nd Quarter 2009
Bradley continues to be an amazing companion and loving family member. His adoptive mom can't brag enough about how quickly Bradley learns new tricks. In addition to learning how to sit, lie down and give paw, she advised that she has also taught him how to snuggle on command. And he seems to love it. Bradley recently came to the Animal League for a check-up and we are happy to report that he is doing well. His family only uses Bradley's inhaler when needed; perhaps after a lot of running and jumping or when they notice that he is having a little difficulty breathing. Thankfully, he does not need it all the time and while he does wheeze every so often, he remains a healthy, happy pup!
1st Quarter 2009
Bradley has had a great start to the New Year - making a new best friend! Bradley's owners have a family friend who recently adopted a dog named Moose from North Shore Animal League America. Bradley and Moose were recently introduced and hit it off right from the start. Bradley showed Moose all his favorite spots in the yard and the two romped around in the snow for quite some time. When they were done playing in the cold the two retreated inside for a little game of tug-of-war with Bradley's most beloved toy.
4th Quarter 2008
Bradley visited the Animal League this past month to get a routine check-up. A few staff members went down to the medical center to greet Bradley and were amazed to see how much he has grown since leaving their care. Bradley definitely remembered his old friends - he jumped up to give some wet, slobbery kisses. Once the reunion was over Bradley trotted in for his check-up. He received his annual vaccinations and was evaluated because he has recently been coughing while drinking water. Bradley will soon be evaluated by a specialist for a diagnosis.
3rd Quarter 2008
Bradley has had quite an adventurous month. He recently went on his very first camping trip, which was a particularly exciting event for him. He seemed to enjoy being in the great outdoors, gazing at the camp fire and being around friends. While the hot weather outside has had some effect on Bradley’s breathing, causing him to wheeze more, his nebulizer helps keep this under control. His family also recently discovered that Bradley is afraid of the sprinkler - he quickly runs away from it the instance it is turned on in the backyard!
2nd Quarter 2008
Our special pooch Bradley has been doing just splendidly on his new diet and has slimmed down a bit. He’s even learned a new trick - “giving paw.” He is so excited to show off his new trick that he tries to give everyone his paw when they walk through the door before they are even able to ask for it!
1st Quarter 2008
During a recent check-up at the League, Bradley was prescribed a nebulizer, an inhaler device, which must be used daily to help with his respiratory problems. Despite his condition, Bradley has truly blossomed since his recent adoption. His new family is working with him to build up his stamina by taking him on long walks. Not only is this helping his breathing, but it’s helping his social life too! Bradley has met a number of neighborhood dogs and is finally enjoying the ability to romp around with them at will. In addition, our little boy is all grown-up and has started his professional career as the mascot for the local volunteer ambulance corps. His new owner is an EMS volunteer and loves to bring Bradley along to keep everyone company. Way to go Bradley!
4th Quarter 2007
Bradley has been enjoying his time in the spotlight - which seems to be ALL the time. He’s been in puppy training class, polishing up his manners and getting ready to go to his forever home. Though Bradley will remain in the sponsor program, he’s officially up for adoption and waiting for the League to find him the perfect pet parent. A very busy boy with his blog, school, and celebrity status, Bradley has become the mascot of the League.
3rd Quarter 2007
Bradley is still recovering from his lung lobectomy. Though his sprits are high and he thinks he’s ready to run and play, the League doctors have him on plenty of bed rest and relaxation. Without this major lung lobectomy, Bradley would have died. Get well soon, Bradley!
2nd Quarter 2007
This is Bradley’s first quarterly update, as he is new to the Sponsor Program. We are happy to report that Bradley is making great improvement. His latest round of antibiotics is really taking effect, and his wheezing is significantly less. Recently Bradley went for a 20 minute walk without wheezing at all! Thanks to the unwavering support of Sponsors like you, Bradley was able to undergo intensive medical treatment that has saved his life. Thank you!
