Fritz joined the League's Sponsor Program in January 2006. Fritz has been honored by the League for being one of their most senior dogs in the program and that honor came with a new title, “King Fritz”. Fritz is a very distinguished gentleman. His small frame showcase's a handsome apricot-colored Pekinese coat. Unfortunately, Fritz's owners passed away and he found himself at the League, alone and scared.

After a thorough examination by League veterinarians, it was discovered that Fritz has numerous health problems including, dental disease, severe arthritis, a dry eye condition and bladder stones. The League was able to place Fritz into a loving and caring foster home and will continue to provide for his life-long medical needs. King Fritz reigns supreme as the King of his Castle again! Your monthly commitment to Fritz helps to make sure that his twilight years are spent as comfortable as possible. Thank you!

Fritz's Updates

4th Quarter 2008
For some reason Fritz can't seem to get rid of the pesky cold that he's been suffering from. Fritz's family advised that he was recently showing symptoms of a cold, such as coughing and sneezing, once again. He was brought to the Animal League for another check-up and little Fritz was given medication to clear up his cold. In addition, Fritz was also suffering from dermatitis, which has since been treated. After spending a few days under the care of the medical staff, Fritz happily returned home for more rest and relaxation.

3rd Quarter 2008
King Fritz is back to being his good old self. He's been running around the house, despite his arthritis, bossing around all the other pets in his home. Since recovering from his recent upper respiratory infection, Fritz has no problem barking orders and tends to get territorial around the home. He tends to take advantage of some of the more submissive animals, however there are some instances when little Fritz gets put in his place. He usually just retreats to his foster mom's bedroom to rest in his very own bed.

2nd Quarter 2008
Our righteous King Fritz has been a little extra grumpy recently. This time it's not because of his medical needs – his daily medication seems to be helping his joints just perfectly – it's because of all that extra pollen in the air. King Fritz has been sneezing and sniffling because of all the blooming flowers in his yard. To help escape the pollen, little Fritz retreats indoors and takes nice long naps atop his special doggie throne!!

1st Quarter 2008
Our prestigious King Fritz has let his noble title go to his head. He's been prancing around his foster home with a whole new righteous attitude. Although his medical conditions sometimes make him a little cranky, this new outlook is one of pure confidence. He is even known to “bark” orders around his castle, letting his owners know when a treat is in order. And while Fritz can have a poor attitude at times as a result of his arthritis, he is also quite loveable in his own way. We can't wait to see King Fritz strut his royal tail through our medical center soon for his next check-up!

4th Quarter 2007
Our very own senior Pekingese dog, Fritz has been deemed King for a month! The League is saluting our senior sponsor pets with a royal honor for living the best lives possible in spite of their many ongoing medical challenges. Showing exemplary dignity and valor, King Fritz has taught us that youth and happiness is more a state of mind than body. We are honored to have King Fritz in our Sponsor Program kingdom and feel confident that his rule will better his loyal subjects. Hail to the King!

3rd Quarter 2007
Fritz enjoys basking in the sun, playing in the grass and napping in the shade … and bird watching. He can spend all day sitting perfectly straight in the yard observing his feathered friends. It's easy to imagine what he's thinking!

2nd Quarter 2007
Fabulous Fritz likes to have his back scratched with two hands. He indicates that a one-handed scratch is just so so for him, and nudges you to use both hands –  he really seems to know the difference! Acting more like a cat than a dog, he's been rubbing up against anything that will give him a good scratch – like the dishwasher and doorways. He's been getting cranky with his daily eye drops. He doesn't like them at all; after application he will rub his face on anything to try to get them out!

1st Quarter 2007
Fritz has quite a reputation for being a little crank pot - but a loveable one at that. His foster mom tells us that his moods ebb and flow and sometimes he can be quite pleasant. We understand Fritz's moodiness though. He's older and has several uncomfortable ailments. It's enough to make anyone a bit irritable. But there is more to Fritz than just crankiness. He doesn't like to show it all the time, but he's a sweetie on the inside. He enjoys good food and loving company, and the wag in his tail says it all.

4th Quarter 2006
Fritz, our senior Pekinese, is still our favorite Grumpy Old Man - and there are no changes to report. He continues to have his good days and bad. He must have his eye medication and he's not a happy camper when it's administered! However, Fritz turns back into a puppy when his foster Mom gives him a bone or cookie. He prances around with it as if to say "Hey you, look what I've got!" Fritz likes his alone time when he's eating and his family knows to let him be. Thank you for supporting our Grumpy Old Fritz!

3rd Quarter 2006
Fritz came to see our veterinarians recently for a check up. He behaved himself as best as he could, although we all realize he can be temperamental from time to time. The doctor prescribed more of the same eye medications and remarked that his condition really hadn't changed much since the last visit. Sometimes Fritz isn't always the cleanest boy and does his business in the house, unfortunately for his loving caregiver. To combat this problem she has invested in doggy diapers, which he wears from time to time! This seems to solve the problem. Our hat is off to his foster mom and her problem solving skills! Although he can be cranky when he is getting his medicine, he does love his foster mom and greets her every morning wagging his tail. He is also excited to see her when she comes home from being out. Fritz is a cranky old man; a small dog with a big personality! Thank you for supporting Fritz and the Sponsor Program, your support is greatly appreciated.

2nd Quarter 2006
One of our newest additions to the Sponsor family is Fritz the Pekingese. He's an older ‘gentleman' who sometimes doesn't act so gentlemanly. His foster mom tells us that he does get excited to see her when she comes home and enjoys playing in the yard. There are other dogs in the house, one of whom he just adores and the other he just tolerates. Isn't it funny how dogs can form bonds towards some other dogs, but not all? They all have their own little personalities, so we are definitely learning with Fritz. Fritz has bad eyes and needs eye drops put in daily. He allows his foster mom to cradle him like a baby and she quickly puts the drops in. Sometimes when he's feeling cooperative, she tells us, he will turn his head so she can get the other eye. Other days he's squirming all over and the drops go everywhere! Fritz sounds like he's going to be a most interesting and loving addition to the Sponsor Program!
